Requirements to travel to Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic is one of the most visited countries in Latin America. In case you are interested in entering our country, we give details about the requirements to travel to Dominican Republic and how to obtain a Simple Tourist Visa or a Business Visa.

All citizens of the world can apply for a Tourist Visa through the Dominican consular offices. There are two categories for these purposes, with a validity of 60 days.

  • Simple Tourist Visa, one (1) entry.
  • Multiple Tourist Visa, multiple entries.

Tourist Visas are granted for:

  • Tourist trips.
  • Cultural travels.
  • Attending congresses or conventions.

The requirements are:

  • Completing the visa form, available at the headquarters of the consular offices or the service portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Visa application letter (without notarization).
  • One (1) 4 x 5-centimeter front view and white background photograph.
  • Original passport with a minimum validity of six (06) months.
  • A legible photocopy of the Residence Card (if applicable).
  • Authorization from the parent or guardian, in the event that the individual is a minor and the person behind the request is not the father or mother.
  • Documents supporting your financial solvency.

1) Bank letter(s) from your savings book, checking account or bank certificates.

2) Employment letter (stating your start date, job title, and salary).

3) Deed for the home, business, land or vehicle registration if you own them.

  • Current or expired visas for other countries.
  • Legible copy of the flight reservation, updated to the date of your trip.
  • Letter of guarantee, notarized and legalized in the Attorney General’s Office. This document must be presented by the applicant, along with the remaining supporting documents, on the day of their interview at the Dominican consulate.

Note: Said letter of guarantee will only be required for countries such as Cuba, China, India, Haiti, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and Irak.

There is a long list of countries that can enter the Dominican Republic without a visa or with a Tourist card (that card can be purchased at the airport and is valid for one month).

There are countries that do not even require that, just showing your passport would suffice. Some of these countries are:

  • Argentina
  • Chile
  • Ecuador
  • Peru
  • Among others

Countries that are not on the list to enter in the manner detailed above will require a “Tourist Visa“.

Can the beneficiaries of these visas work or perform lucrative activities?

Tourists cannot work or perform lucrative activities in Dominican territory.

Business visa.

Due to the advantages of conducting business in our country, the Dominican Republic is one of the countries in Latin America with the highest foreign investment. Some examples of these contributions are:

  • Buying real estate in tourist complexes
  • Investing
  • Creating and establishing companies
  • Residing in the country

For these reasons, we will be listing the requirements to obtain a Simple Business visa (NS) or Multiple Business visa (NM).

Simple Business Visa

These visas are issued for business, professional or commercial travel purposes. It is granted for sixty (60) days and may be renewed automatically by request of the interested party, within the term of 60 days of validity.

Requirements

  • Completing the visa form, available at the headquarters of the consular offices or the service portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Visa application letter (without notarization).
  • One (1) 4 x 5-centimeter front view and white background photograph.
  • Original passport with a minimum validity of six (06) months.
  • A legible photocopy of the Residence Card (if applicable).
  • Criminal Record Clearance Letter.
  • Medical Certification showing that the petitioner has no infectious diseases.
  • Current or expired visas for other countries.
  • Employment letter.
  • Documents supporting your financial solvency.
  • Letter of guarantee, notarized and legalized in the Attorney General’s Office. This document must be presented by the applicant, along with the remaining supporting documents, on the day of their interview at the Dominican consulate.

Multiple Business visa (NM)

These visas are issued for business, professional or commercial travel purposes. It is granted for one (1) year and may be renewed automatically by request of the interested party, within the term of 60 days of validity.

Requirements

  • Visa application letter (without notarization), addressed to the consul and signed by the company or institution to which the beneficiary belongs.
  • Completing the visa form, available at the headquarters of the consular offices or the service portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • One (1) 4 x 5-centimeter front view and white background photograph.
  • Original passport with a minimum validity of six (06) months.
  • Employment letter stating your start date, job title and salary.
  • Immigration Status. To comply you would need to submit the following: a legible photocopy of your National Identity Document (from the country of your nationality) and a legible photocopy of your Residence Card if you reside in a second country.
  • Travel History, along with photocopies of visas from the Dominican Republic and other countries.
  • Criminal Record Clearance letter, issued by the corresponding authorities of the last country in which the interested party was domiciled. The said letter needs to be legalized or apostilled, as applicable.
  • Documents supporting your financial solvency.
  • Letter of guarantee, notarized and legalized in the Attorney General’s Office. This document must be presented by the applicant, along with the remaining supporting documents, on the day of their interview at the Dominican consulate.
